Frequently Asked Questions

Photo Restoration and Manipulation
Can any photo be fixed?

Yes. No matter how severe the damage to the photo may be, it can be repaired.

Can objects be added or taken away?

Yes, people can be added or removed, and backgrounds can also be changed.

Can a black & white photo be colored?

Yes, we can colorize the black and white photo to your specified colors. Photos can also be sepia toned to create a brown and white anitque look.

How will the photo be restored?

A digital copy of the original photo is made and the restorations are made only to the copy. Your original is returned to you unaltered.

Does the customer get a negative?

Digital photo restoration methods do not produce a traditional negative. However, we do keep the restoration saved on digital media for a period of 5 years.

Can the customer get a negative made?

Yes, if the customer wishes to have a negative made of the order we can produce one for a charge of $21.50. Alternately, they may order as many extra prints of the restoration as you need.

How do I send the order to the lab?

Easy. If you have access to a scanner, you can scan the original. Once the original is scanned, you can place the order on our secure server and then upload the image directly through your browser!

You can also send the file as an email attachment, but please remember to include specific instructions so that we know what needs to be done.

What if I don't have a scanner?

If you don't have a scanner, you may mail the original to us for restoration, and we will scan it in our lab.

How do I pay for my order?

The easiest way to pay for the order is with a credit card on our secure online order form. You may also send a check or money order with the order. We require that you send at least a 50% deposit prior to beginning any work on the photos. The balance of the order is due upon completion of the restoration and prior to the order being shipped.

Can the customer preview their pictures?

Yes, the finished photos can be emailed to you for previewing with your customer or a proof can be sent by mail. This way your customers can approve the order before a final print is made.

Can a customer receive a quote on an order?

Yes, if a customer is unsure about how much work will be needed to restore the photo, you may email, mail, or upload the photo through your browser and we will examine it for free and provide you with a no-obligation quote.

How soon will I receive the order?

Our normal turnaround time is 5 to 15 business days once the order is received. Rush services are also available.

Will the original photo be altered in any way?

No. We do not make any alterations to the original. It will be returned in the same condition that we received it.

What kind of photo paper do you use?

We use high-quality glossy or matte surface paper. Photos can also be mounted on heavy art board as well.

How safe is sending photos through the mail?

The biggest percentage of our restoration work is received through the mail. We have never had a problem with any clients' work getting lost or damaged, unless the packaging itself was inadequate.

What's the best way to package photos?

Properly packaging of the photos is essential. Always place the photographs between at least two pieces of sturdy corrugated cardboard. Even if the photo is mounted on art board or mount board, this alone will not provide adequate protection.

If you are sending anything with glass, you should wrap it completely and securely in bubble packing.

The safest way to ship the photographs is via UPS or Federal Express. You may also wish to insure the package or request a signature. Additionally, you can always email us and let us know you're sending an order.
