Weddings at The Kyle House in Fincastle, Virginia by Richmond Wedding Photographer Crystal Image8/18/2015 Both the ceremony and following reception took place at the elegantly styled Kyle House in Fincastle, Virginia. The 1830s Victorian home provided a stunning backdrop to the days celebrations, as well as the photos I was able to capture as the day went on. After the romantic ceremony, I was able to join Danielle and Brandon along with their bridal party to capture photos around the property and as the couple walked along the street to enjoy the day. We were able to capture lots of photos outdoors, the bridal party laughing and smiling the entire time, happy for the newlyweds. Danielle and Brandon are kind hearted, fun loving people, and it showed on their wedding day. They had a large wedding party made up of two maids of honor, three bridesmaids, two best men, three groomsmen, and a flower girl. The chosen color was a beautiful teal that is reminiscent of the iconic Tiffany and Co. Jewelry bags and boxes. The men matched the ladies by wearing bowties made the same color as the ladies dresses. By the time I had arrived, everyone was buzzing excitedly about the impending nuptials. As the reception began and continued on into the night at the Kyle House, Danielle and Brandon were constantly surrounded by their close friends and family wanting to wish them all the best on the first day of their lives as a married couple. They all ate a great meal, had some drinks and danced the night away in absolute wedded bliss.
Congratulations Danielle and Brandon!

Jessica and Jessie wanted a simple southern wedding that was attended by their closest friends and family, and on the day of their wedding they had perfect weather for their ceremony and reception at the Virginia Cliffe Inn. Carrying a bouquet of dark purple and white flowers and dressed beautifully in a white gown with a small train and accessorized simply with a veil, Jessica joined her husband to be outside to exchange vows in a short ceremony in front of their family and friends. Each had two bridesmaids or groomsmen on their side, smiling happily for the couple. The bridesmaids wore a deep purple that matched Jessica's flowers, and the groomsmen wore traditional black suits with deep purple vests and ties to match the bridesmaids dresses. Hints of the color Jessica and Jessie had chosen for their wedding could also be found around the reception, including deep purple candles and on their four tiered cake and individual cupcakes with whipped purple frosting.
Before the reception, we had time to get some great photos outside of the Virginia Cliffe Inn and the surrounding gardens. It was so easy working with Jessica and Jessie to capture the joy and love of the day, each reflected in not only their faces but in the ones of friends and family present as well. Following the reception the newlyweds had a romantic send-off with sparklers that dazzled in the night sky and created a beautiful way for the couple to exit from their exciting and love-filled day. Congratulations Jessica and Jessie! Amanda and James are a fun loving couple and on their wedding day, touches of their playfulness could be found everywhere. Amanda chose a beautiful flower patterned wedding dress with a small, scooping train with a small rhinestone belt accent, but it were her bright pink Converse high tops that stole the show. The floral bouquets were multi-colored and the bridesmaids all wore orange dresses that were all styled differently for every girl. The first of April was a little chilly by the ocean for photos, but the couple happily dealt with the temperature as we took photos with a sunset as the backdrop, the wind sweeping the reeds in the sand only adding to the stunning detail. Kings Creek Marina provided a great location for other photos earlier in the day, and the couple enjoyed a bright and sunny day at the waters edge taking photos with their wedding party, all laughing and smiling. The bright blue of the marina's exterior only added to the photos with a pop of color against Amanda's white dress and James' grey suit. At the reception, touches that represented Amanda and James could be found all over, from a little Lego diorama featuring the couple outside of a house, to a large J + A that was done with differently colored Lego pieces as well. Even their cake featured an adorable Lego bride and groom, and had orange colored Lego pieces made of fondant circling the cake. There was even a fantastic sundae bar for guests to partake in before taking to the dance floor and joining the newlyweds as they danced the night away with their wedding party.
Congratulations Amanda and James! It was a beautiful day for Sherri and Tyler's wedding, and it made the first look pictures we took at the Fort Story lighthouse all the more memorable for the couple who was doing a nautical themed wedding. Tyler couldn't keep the smile off of his face the moment he saw his beautiful bride for the first time and capturing the images at the lighthouse and along the white sand beach made it all the more magical. Following a lovely ceremony at the Chapel of the Good Shepard, where Sherri and Tyler tied a nautical rope to symbolize their love, we were able to capture more photos with the newlyweds and their families, as well as their bridesmaids and groomsmen. The groomsmen all proudly supported their favorite teams with cufflinks on their suits, and Sherri beautiful bouquet of flowers had subtle accents, such as a bow with rhinestones nestled amongst the flowers. At the Shifting Sands Beach Club in Virginia Beach, the nautical theme of the wedding came into full effect, and it was elegantly done. Guests could leave a 'message in a bottle' for the newlyweds with paper and ribbons to tie the notes provided; a compass provided directions to table seatings as well as a memorable keepsake, and the newlyweds sweetheart table was dressed with a stunning arrangement of flowers and draped in a navy blue and white tablecloth to tie in the nautical theme. The couple, both members of the military, cut the cake and spent the rest of the night mingling with their closest friends and family, about 70 people, as they danced the night away in celebration of their first day as husband and wife. Noelle and Keith's wedding is this New Year's Eve in Virginia Beach and I can not wait to see what awesome images you capture of these two! Click here to view the feature It was a beautiful, sunny day for Peggy and Nik's wedding which was great for the couple because they were going to do something incredibly unique. Having always enjoyed nature, during their ceremony, they planted a tree, easily working in their passion for the outdoors into one of the most important days of their lives. Joy, happiness, and love were in the air as the couple exchanged vows that they had written for one another before planting the tree that they had picked out. After the ceremony, it was time for photos on the grounds before going inside the on-site cottage for the reception. The Mills location offered many different and beautiful backdrops to get photos of the newlyweds and their bridal party, all whom reflected the air of spring in the outfits that they wore. The bridesmaids dressed in spring green colors, and carried bouquets of white and dark purple flowers while the men wore boutonnieres on their suit lapels and eggplant purple ties or vests to complete the look. After getting many great photos of Peggy and Nik and their wedding party, it was time to go inside to the reception where friends and family were waiting to greet the newlyweds with well wishes and smiling faces. The desserts at the reception were piled high, all waiting until Peggy and Nik cut their cake before cannoli and tarts were indulged in, followed by dancing. It was an honor to be a part of Peggy and Nik's wedding in nature. Congratulations! Vendors for Nik and Peggy's Wedding Day:
Venue: The Mill at Fine Creek Photography: Crystal Image Photography Jessica and Derrick were our last couple to be photographed in 2014 to get married near Richmond, Virginia. They chose the beautiful Historic Jasmine Plantation in Providence Forge, Virginia. Though their wedding was in December, the couple decided to have an outside wedding and the day and the weather turned out perfect! I love how Jessica included the wedding date in so many little details of their wedding. Check out all the different color bridesmaid dresses! Breaking tradition for sure! Details, Details, Details everywhere! The famous Coke Bar at the Jasmine Plantation. The Candy Bar! Jessica and Derrick treated their guests to a huge candy bar. This is the most unique wedding cake I have ever seen! I love how they used their engagement photos on the wedding cake. Wedding photographs are the only things that live forever, not the flowers, not the music or the cake! Your wedding photographs are an investment you owe yourself and your grandchildren, and for this you need to work with your photographer to make them fabulous. Jessica and Derrick did just that! Thanks to these two for a great end to the 2014 wedding season.

Amanda and Austin were married at Fredericksburg Square a 1854 mansion in historic Fredericksburg, Virginia. Though it was a rainy day these two did not let it bother them one bit! We even got photos outside! If you are looking for a historic mansion for your wedding THIS IS THE PLACE! Such a sweet couple! Congrats to Amanda and Austin!
Renowned as the “Wedding Capital of the West End", The Dominion Club offers over 25,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor event space, including four breathtaking ceremony sites and an elegant Rotunda for weddings up to 300 guests. The unique architecture of the Rotunda exudes a modern elegance in neutral colors, allowing the reception to take on any style: simple or traditional to shabby chic or contemporary, and everything in between.
Nicole and Andrew tied the knot at The Dominion Club in Richmond, Virginia in August and this venue proved to be just beautiful! These two loved doing creative and fun photos and we had a blast photographing their Richmond, VA wedding! Jen and Pete are possibly my favorite couple for 2014. There two were awesome to work with. Not just them, but the entire wedding party and their families. The venue, Whitehall Manor in Bluemount, Virginia was about a four drive away from us but well worth it! This place is amazing to shoot at and the staff is one of the best I've ever work with! |

Pictures were one of my top priorities for my wedding. I spent a lot of time reading through photographers and even contacting some. I was also pretty nervous, I had never been professionally photographed before. Crystal and her team were SO easy to work with and immediately took away the nerves. I trusted her completely and I am so happy I did. Cannot recommend enough! Ellen - Yorktown VA
If you're looking for an amazing photographer who is relaxed, has experience, and knowledge look no further. Crystal took our engagement and wedding photos. Not only were her photos amazing, but she is extremely responsive to messages and will even help you when planning your big day. It was important to us to work with a photographer who has experience with same sex couples, and Crystal and Casey did a great job capturing everything for my wife and I. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. - Emily - Nellysford, VA
